At Mustela, our "secret" recipe is no secret at all.
All our skincare products are formulated using three carefully selected ingredient families, to ensure efficacy, safety and a pleasant experience at every stage of life.
Simply put, our formula contains:
- Plant-derived active ingredients, chosen for their proven efficacy on the most delicate skin
- Excipients, for a soft, enjoyable texture and optimal delivery of active ingredients
- Complementary ingredients to enhance our formulas: a safe and gentle preservation system, pH stabilisers, and in some products, a subtle fragrance for added sensory appeal

A Controlled Process at Every Stage
To ensure every formula meets our standards of quality, safety and efficacy, we conduct over 450 measurements and tests at every stage of product development, overseen by an independent toxicology expert.

These include stability testing, product safety tests (including antimicrobial protection), in vitro tests on reconstituted skin models, and in vivo clinical tests under dermatological supervision.
Any ingredient that raises safety concerns is excluded, and we assess the biodegradability and ecotoxicity of every formula.
An independent toxicology expert at every stage
Their role is to be involved at every key stage of product development: evaluating and contributing to the approval of each ingredient, validating the formula and verifying its safety for babies and expectant mothers, and confirming the safety of the finished product before it goes to market. No product is released without their sign-off at each of these stages.
Quality and safety monitoring beyond the production line
Once a product is on the market, we closely monitor its lifecycle — handling every complaint and adverse effect with the utmost vigilance as part of our quality and cosmetovigilance process.
