THE MUSTELA FOUNDATION

Childhood in all its dimensions

Depuis 1982, la Fondation Mustela œuvre en faveur de l’enfant dans toutes les dimensions de son existence : naissance, développement, relations familiales, situation sociale…
Its work rests on three pillars: support for academic research, backing for field initiatives, and information and awareness-raising for childhood health professionals and the broader public.
Under the umbrella of the Fondation de France, the Mustela Foundation carries out its work in close collaboration with childhood specialists.

Multidisciplinary research

Supporting research has always been the Mustela Foundation's core mission. In over 40 years of activity, it has awarded more than 250 prizes and research grants — with a strong commitment to recognising work across the many fields connected to child development: paediatrics, psychiatry, psychology, midwifery, sociology, public health, and more.

The Mustela Foundation supports research projects led by a wide range of professionals, from midwives and epidemiologists to doctors and psychologists.

In the field, in France and abroad

The Mustela Foundation also supports grassroots initiatives, including parenting workshops, efforts to combat domestic violence, support for families in precarious situations, and care for isolated mothers or those experiencing mental health challenges — delivered through community organisations based in France.

In addition, the Foundation provides annual support for projects run by foreign associations and NGOs working alongside children and their families. Some projects respond to humanitarian emergencies — such as those in countries bordering Ukraine in 2022, or more recently in Mayotte — while others address local development needs such as schooling, healthcare and psychological support, as in Lebanon.

Prevention and information

Reaching all health and childcare professionals — and through them, families.

How do you identify and respond to child abuse? What are the early warning signs of bullying? How do we support the mental health of toddlers? How can women be more empowered in childbirth? What challenges do migrant mothers face?

These are just some of the questions the Mustela Foundation works to answer — providing clear, accessible resources across a range of formats: podcasts, videos, online articles, and more. All information and prevention tools are developed in collaboration with subject matter experts

Research, fieldwork, information:

through these three pillars, the Mustela Foundation is fully committed to current and future professionals — and the families they support.
